BC Recreation and Parks Association decided to offer a variety of eLearning courses that were traditionally presented in workshops to their membership and beyond. The intention was to offer these courses through an online purchasing system that could differentiate between members and non-members of BCRPA and provide pricing appropriately.
Working with a subject matter expert, three courses were designed and written on the topic of working with vulnerable populations. Storyboards were collaboratively written, with the subject matter expert selecting imagery and content and TM NewMedia’s instructional designer creating structure, adapting narration scripts, and adding interactivity throughout. The courses were built in Articulate and the client was trained to work with this software package so that they might develop more courses, and edit them as necessary.
- A unique blend of a content management system (Drupal), online purchasing system, and SCORM compliant eLearning modules to provide a platform for BCRPA to produce and sell a variety of eLearning courses.
- Production of three 60- to 90-minute courses on Engaging the Hard to Reach, Social Inclusion and Vulnerable Populations
- The courses are built using Articulate and include narration, a talking animated guide, and a variety of interactions to engage the participants.
- Training of BCRPA staff to continue to create new courses using Articulate with in-house resources.
